WATCH: Nadine Shah Other Woman Session

Have a look at Shah performing To Be A Young Man for The Other Woman website

Following on from our Escape Velocity interview with Northumbrian singer-songwriter Nadine Shah yesterday, we’ve got a first look at the video of ‘To Be A Young Man’ from Shah’s session for Ruth Barnes’ The Other Woman website. It was recorded at London’s Red Bull Studios last month and features a short interview with Barnes after Shah performs the cut from her debut album Love Your Dum And Mad – have a watch above.

Talking about the lyrics of her songs, Shah told us: "I’m always interested in simple things that you can relate to […] I will never write lyrics laced in metaphor as it is not how I speak and it is not how I think. Maybe that’s why I like the poetry of Phillip Larkin and it is why I like Frida Kahlo. Frida Kahlo had a brutal honesty about her – almost too brutal of an honesty."

Love Your Dum And Mad is out now via Apollo Records.
