Nadine Shah Details New Album, ‘Filthy Underneath’

The album "chronicles a period of unprecedented turbulence" in the artist's life, a press release says

Nadine Shah has shared details of her fifth studio album, Filthy Underneath.

The follow-up to 2020’s Kitchen Sink, the new record is said to chronicle "a period of unprecedented turbulence" in Shah’s life, and was written and produced together with long-time collaborator Ben Hillier. To mark the album’s announcement, Shah has shared lead track ‘Topless Mother’, which you can listen to above.

Speaking about the new single in a statement, Shah said: "It’s a song about a counsellor I worked with that I couldn’t get along with. I’m pretty certain the feeling was mutual. And I’m also pretty certain she’d find this funny. Some people just don’t click and some arseholes like me write songs about it."

EMI North will release Filthy Underneath on February 23, 2024.
