Mute’s Can Live Series to Continue With ‘Live In Keele 1977’

The label says it's the release that has been most requested by fans since the archival series began

Mute and Future Days’ series of Can live albums is set to continue with the November release of Live In Keele 1977.

Capturing late-period Can, the live album features the core lineup of Irmin Schmidt, Jaki Liebezeit, Holger Czukay and Michael Karoli, as well as bass from Rosko Gee. The latter taking on that role meant that Czukay relinquished bass duties for the featured set to perform “wave radio and spec. sounds”, a press release said.

Live In Keele 1977 is the final album planned for release in the live series for now, and it has been the most requested by fans since the archival run of records began. As with past entries in the series, it was pieced together from Can’s own archives, as well as from fan recordings, then assembled by founding member Schmidt together with producer and engineer René Tinner.

This is the third Can live release of this year, following on from February’s Live In Paris 1973 and May’s Live In Aston 1977.

Mute / Future Days will release Live In Keele 1977 on November 22, 2024.
