Musicians Call On Chemical Brothers To Cancel Gig

Show is to take place in Tel Aviv

A number of high profile personalities, including Roger Waters and Maxine Peake, have joined a campaign calling on The Chemical Brothers to cancel a planned gig in Tel Aviv.

The campaign, set up by Artists For Palestine UK, says that: "Tel Aviv’s hipster vibe is a bubble on the surface of a very deep security state that drove out half the indigenous Palestinian population in 1948 and has no intention of letting their descendants back in."

In addition to these personalities, over 7,000 people have also signed the letter calling for the gig’s cancellation. "When international artists, such as the Chemical Brothers, perform at Israeli cultural venues and institutions, they help to create the false impression that Israel is a ‘normal’ country just like any other," the petition says.

As The Guardian reports, though tickets are on sale for the show, the date is not currently listened on The Chemical Brothers’ upcoming run of dates on their website.
