Independent UK opera and music theatre company Mahogany Opera Group will be performing new multimedia opera work Mozart vs. Machine throughout the UK this autumn.
The piece, composed by Dominic Robertson is a quirky mix between electronic sound, video, and Mozart opera, examining “the question of how vital the march of technology is to the transformation of music”. The result is theatrical, philosophical, and incredibly creative – an opera decidedly unconventional and experimental.
Accompanying music from The Marriage of Figaro and The Magic Flute are large animations and video projections that interact with the performers to help them frequently ‘break the fourth wall’. Frederic Wake-Walker is directing the piece, known for his very physical and involved interpretations.
The production will visit London, Birmingham, Bristol, Aberdeen and a number of other venues during its tour across September and November. You can find the full list of dates here.
