Le Guess Who? has confirmed some more names for this year’s festival including a rare live performance from Brazilian singer and Voice Against Repression campaigner Elza Soares.
Soares will perform in support of her 34th studio album which sees her take in influences from a number of genres as well as the samba sounds that have come to be expected of her.
Also newly confirmed are The Ex who will host a special event billed as ‘The Ex Festival’. On November 13 at the festival, this event will see them partake in a three-and-a-half-hour improv set alongside a number of collaborators including Ethiopian performers Zerfu Demissie, Circus Debre Berhan, Endris Hassen, Nardos Tesfaw, Melaku Belay and Zenash Tsegaye, as well as Arnold De Boer’s Zea, French noise rock group Api Uiz, saxophone player John Butcher, skinsmen George Hadow, Lena and Paal Nilsson-Love and percussionist Han Bennink.
A day previous to the improv set The Ex will team up with Ethiopian dance and music ensemble Fendika for a performance also. All of this is in addition to previously announced sets from Swans, Patty Waters, Dinosaur Jr and more, as well as curated programmes by Savages, Wilco, Julia Holter and Suuns.
