Moor Mother Reveals New LP, ‘Black Encyclopedia Of The Air’

It's the artist's debut for US label Anti-

Moor Mother has revealed details of her next album, titled Black Encyclopedia Of The Air.

Set for release in September, the 13-track LP marks Camae Ayewa’s debut for Anti-, the label to which she has now signed. You can watch a video for the Pink Siifu-featuring lead track ‘Obsidian’ above. Speaking about the visual, director Ari Marcopoulos said: "We decided to start the video in front of Alice and John Coltrane’s house. Nuff said. I could elaborate if you want me too. But it’s the spirit right there."

A press release explains that while Ayewa was writing ‘Obsidian’, she was "thinking about one’s proximity to violence. Thinking about violence in the home. Violence in communities." The artist recorded the album at home in March of 2020 in collaboration with soundscape artist and producer Olof Melander.

Anti- will release Black Encyclopedia Of The Air on September 17, 2021.
