Moor Mother, ANOHNI And More Contribute To New Digital Festival

Variations is a new project from Sage Gateshead that invites artists to reflect their experience of the climate crisis and COVID-19 pandemic

Sage Gateshead has launched a new digital mini-festival, Variations, comprised of four specially commissioned works by Moor Mother, Yoko Ono & ANOHNI, John Grant, and Tune-Yards.

Launched this month to coincide with the COP26 climate change conference and Sage Gateshead’s commitment to the Music Declares Emergency project, the artists involved have been invited to create music films that reflect their experience of the climate crisis and COVID-19 pandemic.

Yoko Ono and ANOHNI’s contribution, ‘I Love You Earth’, which you can watch above, was written by Ono, who also created the film alongside The Rainforest Trust. Moor Mother’s contribution, ‘Spring Again’, meanwhile, sees her team up with a number of musicians, including fellow members of the Philadelphia free jazz group Irreversible Entanglements.

All four films are available to watch via BBC iPlayer or Sage Gateshead’s YouTube channel. Find more information about Variations here.
