Mogwai Guitarist Leaves Band

John Cummings leaves 'to pursue his own musical projects'

Longtime Mogwai guitarist John Cummings has left the band with a statement on their website explaining that Cummings “decided to leave Mogwai to pursue his own musical projects.”

The statement suggests that the band will continue as a quarter with two musicians set to join them for upcoming live shows. “We wish John all the best with the future,” the statement concludes. Cummings joined Mogwai in 1995 as the fourth member of the band. The band recently released a three-disc compilation, entitled Central Belters, to mark their 20th anniversary.
