The Complete Live At The Plugged Nickel 1965, one of Miles Davis’ most mythical live albums, is getting a new reissue.
Set to be made available in new 10xLP and 8xCD editions, the updated release gives a new lease of live to an album that has been out of print for three decades. An excerpted 2xLP version, Live At The Plugged Nickel: December 23, 1965 – Second Set, will also be made available on November 28 for Record Store Day Black Friday.
Recorded at the titular Chicago club, which was based under a bakery, The Complete Live At The Plugged Nickel 1965 collects four sets that Davis played across December 22 and 23, 1965. He played alongside the group known as Davis’ Second Great Quintet, consisting additionally of Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Tony Williams.
The reissue collects around seven hours of music and also comes with archival photos and new liner notes by jazz writer and record collector Syd Schwartz.
Columbia / Legacy will release The Complete Live At The Plugged Nickel 1965 on January 30, 2026.
