Recently the world of politics was shaken by the news that Tory high flier Louise Mensch is to quit her seat to travel to America to spend more time with her husband, music executive and Metallica manager Peter. Upon opening our post this weekend, we discovered that satirical magazine Private Eye has acquired a set of poems written by Mensch during her time as an EMI staffer during the 1990s.
Now, as previously reported on The Quietus, Metallica are recording a new album. Could there be more to Mensch’s departure than meets the eye? Following their collaboration with Lou Reed, are Metallica looking for a more feminine poetic touch to their next joint project? Just check out Mensch’s poem Myself, as reprinted in Private Eye, below… Top Metallica collab vibes ahoy!

My blood rushes black as the high winds,
My hair is a banner on wide plains;
And I am Louise of the City of Glass,
Louise the dreamer, the shaper of worlds.
