Metal Hammer And More Return

Print title returns again, alongside others, following period of uncertainty

Three rock print titles will return this year, after Future Publishing acquired Metal Hammer, Classic Rock and Prog Magazine.

The acquisition follows the sudden closure of the former publishing company, Team Rock, in December 2016.

Metal Hammer was the first title to return, on February 10. The comeback issue leads with a world exclusive interview from Ozzy Osbourne, following the retirement of heavy metal legends Black Sabbath. The interview, conducted by Avenged Sevenfold frontman M Shadows, is Osbourne’s last under the band’s moniker.

While the magazine’s editor-in-chief Merlin Alderslade called this is a, “one-in-a-lifetime chat,” he added that, “if the amazing support we have received over the past two months is anything to go by, I can promise you we’re only just getting started.”

The return of the titles follows a high profile JustGiving campaign after Team Rock was placed into administration on December 19 of last year. The fund, started by Ben Ward of Orange Goblin, attracted publicity from bands including Avenged Sevenfold, Machine Head and Rush, who contributed to the campaign, raising close to £90,000.

Following the release of Metal Hammer, Classic Rock and Prog Magazine will release new issues shortly after.
