Legendary post punk band the Membranes have just announced a one day festival in Manchester to be held at the Ritz on Saturday May 5.
The Membranes And Friends Festival is an all-dayer which will also feature Evil Blizzard, The Lovely Eggs, The Cravats, One Sided Horse and Sink Ya Teeth as part of the bill.
The Membranes led by inimitable, sharp dressed gentleman of punk rock, Brother John Robb are hoping to repeat the success of a similar event held at the same venue in 2017. And this year, their set will be in conjunction with the 20-piece BIMM choir and will include a nature film.
The band will be playing tracks from the proposed follow up to Dark Matter/Dark Energy – a "double album about the beauty and violence of nature with sex, love and death and the mystical heart of England entwined in its rampant lyrical shrubbery".
Speaking to us recently, Robb said: "We are starting in the studio in the mythical hills of dark Yorkshire tapping into the great god Pan and the satanic mills on moor tops recording in really varied styles from bass driven post punk to spine tingling spook choir, grinding wonk gronk to neo classical darkness , dark dub adventures to some really epic moments and even a track with Chris Packham doing a spoken word vocal."
