Matmos has shared a video for their recent single ‘Changing States’, which is premiering exclusively via tQ.
The song is set to appear on the duo’s forthcoming album, Metallic Life Review, which was announced earlier this month and recorded entirely using sounds derived from metallic objects.
‘Changing States’ features and is dedicated to the late pedal steel player Susan Alcorn. The visual for the song, which you can watch below, focuses further on the metallic objects used to produce the track and the album on which it appears.
Alongside news of the album, the duo recently announced a series of tour dates for this coming year, with shows scheduled across the UK, Europe and the US. In May, they will play at Wiltshire’s Acid Horse, the festival co-organised by tQ’s own John Doran, with further shows in Europe continuing into June.
Thrill Jockey will release Metallic Life Review on June 20, 2025.
