Matmos have shared details of a new album, titled Regards / Ukłony dla Bogusław Schaeffer.
Due out in May, the eight-track release sees the duo get to grips with classic works by Polish avant-garde artist Bogusław Schaeffer, having been given access to his entire catalogue of recorded material by the Instytutu Adama Mickiewicza. "The results are neither performances nor remixes," a press release explains, adding: "they are entirely new works that take tissue samples of DNA from past compositions and mutate them into entirely new organisms." Regards / Ukłony dla Bogusław Schaeffer follows on from Matmos’ 2020 album The Consuming Flame: Open Exercises In Group Form, which saw them collaborate with 99 other musicians.
