Matador Reveals Butthole Surfers Reissue Series

The label is set to re-release albums and EPs from the band's first decade of output

New York label Matador has shared details of a series of reissues of work by Butthole Surfers.

Covering classic albums and EPs released by the Texas band during their first decade together, the records that will be reissued have all been remastered under supervision from the group. Audio of the first three releases in the series – 1984 debut studio album Psychic…Powerless…Another Man’s Sac, 1986 follow-up Rembrandt Pussyhorse and 1984 live album PCPPEP – has been made available on streaming services today (January 24) ahead of vinyl releases of each record in March.

To mark the announcement of the reissue series, Matador has shared a new video for the song ‘Butthole Surfer’ featuring rarely seen photographs of Butthole Surfers, shot by Gail Butensky during the 1980s. You can watch the visual below. Further remastered releases of the band’s work will follow later this year.

Matador will release Psychic…Powerless…Another Man’s Sac, Rembrandt Pussyhorse and PCPPEP on March 22, 2024.
