Massive Attack’s 3D Cofounds Bot Exposing Climate Misinformation

Eco-Bot.Net will flag fake and misleading news posted on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter

Massive Attack’s 3D, AKA Robert Del Naja, has cofounded a new AI system which will aim to flag climate misinformation shared on social media.

Eco-Bot.Net will focus on posts shared via Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. It will initially look at instances of "greenwashing", which those behind the bot describe as "a tactic used to mislead consumers about the green credentials of a product or service, or about the environmental performance of a company." The team add that the bot has so far flagged almost 1,400 posts featuring false or misleading content.

Artist and researcher Bill Posters and Dale Vince, founder of green energy company Ecotricity, worked with Del Naja on founding and developing the bot. You can find out more about the project via the video above, and its website. Follow Eco-Bot.Net on Twitter to keep up to date with the posts that it flags here.
