We have long lauded Jeff Zeigler’s production over here at the Quietus, so we were all ears when we got wind of a new collaboration between the Pennsylvania native and harpist Mary Lattimore, in the form of Slant Of Light due out on September 22 via Thrill Jockey. The duo agree that out of their many collaborations – put together, they’ve worked with Jarvis Cocker, Kurt Vile, Meg Baird, Wrekmeister Harmonies and A Sunny Day In Glasgow to name a few – this was the "most effortless", and ‘The White Balloon’ oozes just that. With its incandescence and ethereal texture, this impressionist piece feels like it inhabits a world of its own, a feeling which may stem from Zeigler and Lattimore shutting themselves away to record the album during the intense snowstorm that hit Philadelphia earlier this year.
