Mary Lattimore Collects New And Obscure Material On New LP

'Collected Pieces II' features previously unreleased music, Bandcamp-only tracks and other pieces from her archives

Mary Lattimore will round up new and previously unreleased material, as well as a number of Bandcamp-only tracks and other pieces from her recent archives on her next release.

Out in October, the nine-track Collected Pieces II is the second instalment of a series that began in 2017. It will be released on a limited edition cassette, as well as in digital formats, with selected tracks from both Collected Pieces and Collected Pieces II set to make their vinyl debut in 2022. The Los Angeles harpist has described the process of arranging the releases as akin to "opening a box filled with memories."

Ahead of the release of Collected Pieces II, Lattimore has shared ‘We Wave From Our Boats’, which is one of the newer tracks from the release and can be listened to above. It was improvised during the early part of 2020’s COVID-19 lockdown, after Lattimore spent time walking around her neighbourhood. "I would just wave at neighbours I didn’t know in a gesture of solidarity and it reminded me of how you’re compelled to wave at people on the other boat when you’re on a boat yourself, or on a bridge or something," she says of that time. "The pull to wave feels very innate and natural."

Ghostly International will release Collected Pieces II on October 29, 2021.
