Mark Lanegan Announces Tour

Lanegan set to play acoustic shows in UK and Ireland in support of new covers album Imitations

Following his excellent album with Duke Garwood, Black Pudding, from earlier this year – one of our favourites of 2013 no less – Mark Lanegan is set to release a new LP of covers, Imitations, through Heavenly Recordings on September 16. Not only that, but he’s heading out on an acoustic tour in support of the LP in November AND he’s bringing Garwood with him!

Says Lanegan of the album: "When I was a kid in the late sixties and early seventies, my parents and their friends would play the records of Andy Williams, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Perry Como, music with string arrangements and men singing songs that sounded sad whether they were or not. At home my folks were also listening to country music – Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, George Jones and Vern Gosdin were some of our favourites. For a long time I’ve wanted to make a record that gave me the same feeling those old records did, using some of the same tunes I loved as a kid and some that I’ve loved as I have gotten older. This record is it. Imitations."

Have a look at the UK and Ireland dates below, and listen to the first track we’ve heard from Imitations, Lanegan’s version of John Cale’s ‘I’m Not The Loving Kind’, following:
