We’ve previously reported that Mark Lanegan is following up on his ace record with Duke Garwood, Black Pudding, with a covers album, Imitations.
It features his reworkings of songs by, among others, John Cale, Frank Sinatra and Greg Dulli, drawing on music he heard in his childhood: "For a long time I’ve wanted to make a record that gave me the same feeling those old records did, using some of the same tunes I loved as a kid and some that I’ve loved as I have gotten older. This record is it. Imitations," says Lanegan of the record.
It’s out on Heavenly Recordings next Monday, September 16, but ahead of that we’re excited to host a first play of the album in full.
