WATCH: New Marc Almond Video

Marc Almond reunites with figures of his past on new video for previously unreleased track

Next month sees the release of Marc Almond’s Hits And Pieces, collecting the best of his solo work as well as his work in Soft Cell.

The album features 13 top 30 singles and naturally takes in hits such as ‘Tainted Love’ and ‘Something’s Gotten Hold Of My Heart’. Above, you can take a first look at the new video for ‘A Kind Of Love’. The video is directed by Tim Pope who was responsible for a number of the early Soft Cell videos and has reunited with Marc Almond for this video.

Featured in the video are The The’s Matt Johnson and singer Mari Wilson (who appeared in the original video for Soft Cell’s ‘What?’), while the star of the original Tim Pope-directed ‘Say Hello Wave Goodbye’ video, otherwise known as ‘Eileen’, also appears again 36 years on from that video. ‘A Kind Of Love’ is a previously unreleased track from Marc Almond, recalling elements of Almond’s past and influences of the Northern Soul scene, while looking forward and presenting where Almond is at today.

Hits And Pieces – The Best Of Marc Almond And Soft Cell will be available in both CD and download formats from March 10. Also featured on the album, alongside the expected parade of hits, are his cover of Donna Summer’s ‘I Feel Love’ with Bronski Beat, his interpretation of Scott Walker’s cover of Jacques Brel’s ‘Jacky’, recent material such as ‘The Velvet Trail’, as well as the Tony Visconti-produced ‘The Dancing Marquis’.
