Video for Walk Me To The Bridge, from forthcoming LP Futurology

It’s been just over nine months since the Manics’ Rewind The Film, and now they’re ready to birth record number 12. Futurology reaches full term on July 7, released via Columbia. You can watch Kieran Evans’ Berlin-based video for ‘Walk Me To The Bridge’, featuring the band performing in an aircraft hangar and a young women looking panicked, above.

Nicky Wire, in conversation with the Quietus’ very own John Doran, describes the track as, "about the Øresund Bridge that joins Sweden and Denmark. A long time ago when we were crossing that bridge I was flagging and thinking about leaving the band (the ‘fatal friend’). It’s about the idea of bridges allowing you an out of body experience as you leave and arrive in different places."

The album is set to draw on a number of European modernist influences, gathered while the band were on tour, including one song entirely inspired by Munch’s ‘Between The Clock And The Bed’, and features guest spots from Green Gartside, Cian Ciarán, Cate le Bon, H. Hawkline and actress Nina Hoss. You can see them perform this Krautrock-inspired new material at any of the biggies this summer – Glastonbury, T In The Park or V Festival.
