Cardiff production company Barefoot Rascals have today announced the start of a crowdfunding campaign via Kickstarter for a new documentary on Manic Street Preachers’ seminal 1994 album The Holy Bible. On the album’s twentieth anniversary, The Holy Bible: My Testament will explore the impact of the band’s aggressive, post-punk-influenced work on the lives of their biggest fans.
The film will extensively feature award-winning music journalist and Quietus contributor Simon Price, who will be filmed conducting interviews with Manics fans on the eve of their Holy Bible tour in December. In the film, Price will also be delving into the history of the album and assessing its cultural, social and political impact. The Quietus will be previewing shortened four-minute versions of the films in the run-up to the Manic’s December shows. The project’s Kickstarter is now live, with 14 more days to go to reach its goal. For more information and to pledge, visit the Kickstarter page here.
