David Lynch And More For Manchester International Festival

David Lynch, Maxine Peake and Skepta are amongst the names taking part in this year's Manchester International Festival

Manchester International Festival has confirmed details of its programme for 2019, including the largest UK exhibition of David Lynch’s visual art to date.

Lynch will take over the HOME venue in Manchester for the duration of the festival to present his work, and the exhibition will also run alongside screenings of his work as well as Lynch-inspired gigs.

The Nico Project, an immersive theatrical show, will look into the life and work of the late Nico and has been produced by Maxine Peake and Sarah Frankcom. Idris Elba and Kwame Kwei-Armah, meanwhile, will collaborate for the first time on Tree – a show which is described as "a journey into the soul and spirit of contemporary South Africa which blends music, drama and dance."

Skepta will present a new show called DYSTOPIA987, which is billed as "a futuristic take on the history of rave culture" and will take place at a secret Manchester location. Philip Glass and Phelim McDermott will perform live together on Tao of Glass.

MIF 2019 will take place across a number of Manchester locations, running from July 4-21. For more information, head here.
