Mana To Release New Album, ‘Asa Nisi Masa’

The Italian producer's second album for Hyperdub is out in September

Mana has shared details of his second album for Hyperdub, titled Asa Nisi Masa.

On his second full-length album, the Italian producer, formerly known as Vaghe Stelle, looks to late ’70s and early ’80s Italian modern classical and film music, as well as Jon Hassell’s Fourth World sound, for inspiration. You can hear opening track ‘Spin And Loops’ just below.

Asa Nisi Masa takes its name from Fellini’s surreal autobiographical film 8 1/2. Coming two years on from his last album, Seven Steps Behind, the new record was produced between late 2019 and May 2020, mostly in quarantine during the COVID-19 lockdown.

The album will follow on from Hyperdub’s next release, a six-track EP by Ikonika called Hollow, which is out in August.

Hyperdub will release Asa Nisi Masa on September 11, 2020.
