Simbad & Outboxx In Peckham This Saturday

South London promoters Wholemeal present an underground house music triple bill at the Peckham Palais this Saturday, 27th October

Last time we heard from Wholemeal, they were hosting Bristolian analogue house maven October at Whitechapel’s Rhythm Factory. The South London promotion outfit are now returning after a summer hiatus, to celebrate their third birthday with a trio of some of underground house music’s most talented operators.

Foremost among them is Simbad, a producer whose forays into globally-informed, broken beat house stretch back over a decade – and whose impressive CV has led him to share production credits on Mala’s recent Mala In Cuba album, as well as assisting with Cooly G’s recent LP. The man is also an expert DJ, helping to assemble the Worldwide Family Volume 1 mix for Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood label back in 2010. Leif has a similarly lengthy discography to his name, with releases on Fear Of Flying and Trimsound outlining a subtle, considered deep house sound; one which is similarly represented in his sets, both at his own Until My Heart Stops parties and as a resident at the much-lauded FreeRotation festival.

Finally, Wholemeal continue their love affair with Bristol’s vibrant scene by inviting fast-ascending duo Outboxx [pictured] over to DJ. The pair, consisting of producer Jacob Martin (who also operates solo as Hodge) and keys man Matt Lambert, seem intent on single-handedly counteracting the city’s bleaker tendencies – check out their lush, soul-infused releases on Idle Hands, Immerse and elsewhere.
