The Magnetic North’s debut album Orkney Symphony Of The Magnetic North was released yesterday, a record that we described as containing "timeless songs which rather than being of any genre – not even the hard-to-define ‘folk’ – seem to spring from the bare open horizons, low-lying islands and sea of Orkney, creating a unique bleak and windswept aesthetic." Now the band – Erland Cooper (previously of Erland & The Carnival), Hannah Peel and Simon Tong – have put together a storywheel to take listeners through the making of the record, where the band talk about their relationship to the Orkneys and the genesis of the album.
