Magnetic North put together a storywheel to talk about the making of their new album

The Magnetic North’s debut album Orkney Symphony Of The Magnetic North was released yesterday, a record that we described as containing "timeless songs which rather than being of any genre – not even the hard-to-define ‘folk’ – seem to spring from the bare open horizons, low-lying islands and sea of Orkney, creating a unique bleak and windswept aesthetic." Now the band – Erland Cooper (previously of Erland & The Carnival), Hannah Peel and Simon Tong – have put together a storywheel to take listeners through the making of the record, where the band talk about their relationship to the Orkneys and the genesis of the album. Watch it below.

The Magnetic North are set to play a couple of dates in the UK in May and June – see below.

MAY

23rd – London, Wilton’s Music Hall

JUNE

28th – Orkney, St. Magnus International Festival
