A song from the Magnetic Fields’ forthcoming album has surfaced online.
‘Andrew in Drag’ sees a return to the band’s trademark synth-heavy and acoustic sound, supporting frontman Stephen Merritt’s recent claims that their last album, Realism, would be the final chapter in what he termed the “no-synth trilogy”.
The track is taken from the band’s upcoming tenth studio album, Love at the Bottom of the Sea, which commemorates the Magnetic Fields’ return to Merge Records, who released much of the band’s back catalogue, including their landmark triple record, 69 Love Songs, in the US. The album is due to be issued by Domino Records in the UK on March 5th.
