As a huge fan of The Beatles, Kurt Cobain is no doubt grinning in his coffin with the news that Sir Paul McCartney will front his old band Nirvana at the benefit concert for victims of Hurricane Sandy that takes place tonight (December 12) in the US. According to The Sun, who have done a pretty amusing mock-up of Sir Paul as Kurt here, he’ll join the band for a new song that they’ve all been rehearsing in secret. According to the paper, Grohl asked Macca to come and "jam with some mates". The former Beatle then suggested that the three of them (joined by one-time Nirvana guitarist Pat Smear) “just make something up”. It seems, though, that McCartney wasn’t too au fait with the work of Nirvana. Wot Paul, no ‘Scentless Apprentice’? "I didn’t really know who they were," he said. "They are saying how good it is to be back together. I said ‘Whoa? You guys haven’t played together for all that time? And somebody whispered to me ‘That’s Nirvana. You’re Kurt.’ I couldn’t believe it.”
