M.I.A. Claims New Album Will Be Her Last

Artist also says she cannot get a visa to tour the US

M.I.A. has suggested that her new album will be her last.

In a series of tweets, the artist said that she had now finished work on her new album, from which she had previously shared a number of finished tracks and demos, but claimed that issues with her application for a US visa may prevent her from promoting the album there.

“I am handing my last LP in to my American label this week,” she said. “It’ll be up to them if it’s released. I don’t have visa for States to promote or speak!” She also said that she would not be able to tour the US without a visa and joked that she would have to start writing songs for DJ Khaled and Selena Gomez in order to “get heard”. M.I.A. has previously released tracks entitled ‘Swords’ and ‘Borders’, which addressed the refugee crisis, in the run-up to the album’s release.
