Next week, NTS show Tropical Waste bring their club night back to The Waiting Room in Stoke Newington. Heading up the bill on October 9 will by Janus/Pan genre-crunching producer M.E.S.H.. Talking about his recent EP Scythians in his latest Hyperspecific column, Rory Gibb said: "[It] might be my favourite 12" release so far this year, not because it’s perfect, but because the environment and atmosphere it establishes is so convincing. Listening to its five tracks feels like wandering, pleasurably lost, through someone else’s memories – a liquid glass hall-of-mirrors, whose instability mimics the unreliability of human recall. Rhythmic motifs, sampled words, verbal splutterings and melodic flourishes swirl around one another, audible one moment, gone the next, never falling into quite the same arrangement twice – always the same, always different."
Also on the bill are returning London soundsystem producers Vegyn & ERSATZ, playing Tropical Waste for their second time, and TW hosts Iydes & Seb on the decks, making for a night that comes with full tQ approval. Tickets and details, as ever, are over at TW’s site, and prime yourself with the latest show, replete with a mix from M.E.S.H. below:
