Lyra Pramuk is set to release a new album this June.
Titled Hymnal, the 14-track record marks the US artist’s first full-length studio effort since 2020’s Fountain. Its announcement comes after Pramuk shared standalone single ‘Vega’ last month alongside news of the launch of her new label, pop.soil.
Hymnal is said to be inspired by the natural world, as well as music’s early communal roots in pre-industrial and pre-capitalist folk cultures, according to a press release.
Outlining the background to the new record in a statement, Pramuk said: “Music has been a sacred practice, throughout human history. Before industry and long before social media, music used to be a socially connective ritual between humans, animals, and the Earth. It’s not just a product; it’s a medicine and a collective, common good that we all have a right to. It has the potential to bring us together in times of crisis, to enable a great depth of emotional processing, and give an innate healing power; something much-needed at this moment in history.
“The West dominates the Earth with protocols of extraction, surveillance and exploitation. I do not adhere to this philosophy. This work represents an attempt to articulate my own belief system. Everything about our society is designed to distract us from our true power, innate beauty, and connection with all (real) life. It’s up to us to unlearn this.”
To mark the new album’s announcement, Pramuk has shared lead track ‘Rewild’, which you can listen to below.
!K7 / pop.soil will release Hymnal on June 13, 2025.
