Luke Abbott To Mark Piano Day With Album

Szun Waves' Luke Abbott will release a new solo album in March to mark Nils Frahm's Piano Day

Luke Abbott of Szun Waves is to release a new solo album this March titled Music From The Edge Of An Island. Above, you can hear a track from the album, called ‘Sea’.

The album, which will arrive on the FLOAT label, is comprised of 10 tracks all specially produced to mark this year’s Piano Day, an initiative founded by Nils Frahm which puts on events as a platform for piano-based projects.

"It’s a very self-contained body of work, I haven’t ever made music with this kind of sound pallet before," Abbott says of the album. The record sees Abbott move away from the more electronic tones of his previous solo work, shifting his focus to VST instruments.

Abbott will take part in a special Piano Day event on March 29 at EartH, Hackney. The event, put together by FLOAT, will see him play alongside Jack Wylie. Andrea Belfi and Reeps One are also on the line-up. Find more information here.

Music From The Edge Of An Island will be released on March 29 (Piano Day) on LP and digitally.
