LISTEN: Stream Low Jack’s New Album

We get an early play of Sewing Machine, the French producer's grinding, dancefloor-ready second album

According to label In Paradisum: "Sewing Machine has nothing to teach us, except what we already know: the city will kill us all, don’t trust anyone you meet in a club, etc. It takes you by the collar and coldly puts you under an electroshock session, before leaving you for dead half an hour later."

That about says it all. With his latest LP, the follow-up to last year’s debut, Garifuna Variations, French producer Philippe Hallais, aka Low Jack, drags listeners through a world of sonic shrapnel and throbbing noise. It’s an exhausting affair, to be sure, but not one without its rewards. Streaming single and early standout ‘Fubu Knight’ approaches dance music with its clipped snares and oceanic waves of bass, while ‘Zaltan’s Jackets’ screeches and swoops its way through four and half minutes of pulsing industrial grooves, making good on Hallais’ "house music from hell" promise. Stream the album above and get hold of it on CD and download (the vinyl’s sold out) from In Paradisum’s Bandcamp.
