American trio Low are set to release a new album, The Invisible Way, on March 18 via Sub Pop.
It’s their ninth long-player, following up last year’s C’mon, and sees Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy helming production.
The band’s Alan Sparhawk, who more recently has been collaborating with singer/violinist Gaelynn Lea in The Murder Of Crows, says: “While driving through Chicago on tour, we finally stopped to visit Wilco at their studio, The Loft. They had invited us to come check it out several times over the years, but this would finally be the day… What really converted us was hearing the new Mavis Staples tracks they were working on – big, simple, raw and intimate. Plans were made then and there," adding "the songs are about intimacy, the drug war, the class war, plain old war war, archaeology and love".

In advance of that, they’ve released a six-track live set, ‘Low – Plays Nice Places’, compiling recordings from their April tour supporting Death Cab For Cutie, whose frontman Benjamin Gibbard appears on vocals and bass on ‘Words’ – have a listen below:
