Lost Marvin Gaye Album To Be Released

A scrapped 1972 album from Marvin Gaye is set for release to mark what would have been his 80th birthday

A scrapped album by Marvin Gaye dating back to 1972 is now set to be released.

The album, titled You’re The Man, was originally intended as a follow-up to 1971’s What’s Going On, but never saw release. The album will feature all of Gaye’s solo and non-soundtrack recordings from 1972, and is being released to mark what would have been his 80th birthday.

It’s out March 29, and you can hear a track from it, called ‘My Last Chance’, above. Of the 17 tracks to feature on the new release, only the title track was actually released at the time, and most of the songs have never been made available on vinyl until now.
