Loraine James Shares New Track, ‘Choose To Be Gay’

It's the second cut to be unveiled from forthcoming album 'Building Something Beautiful For Me'

Loraine James has released a new single, ‘Choose To Be Gay (Femenine)’.

It’s the second cut to be shared from the artist’s forthcoming album, Building Something Beautiful For Me, which was originally announced in July and sees James reinterpret a number of key works by the late US composer Julius Eastman. You can listen to the new song above.

Phantom Limb, which is putting out the new album, made the initial connection between James and Eastman’s surviving brother, Gerry, with Eastman having passed away in 1990. James was given access to the late composer’s originals and transcribed MIDI stems, as well as his 2015 biography, Gay Guerilla, by Renee Levine-Packer and Mary Jane Leach, last summer ahead of working on the project.

Phantom Limb will release Building Something Beautiful For Me on October 7, 2022.
