On June 17, pioneering UK hip hop crew London Posse reissue their 1990 debut Gangster Chronicles (artwork above) via Tru Thoughts. Alongside a host of previously unreleased cuts, there are also remixes by Wrongtom, The Nextmen, Hint, Drumagick and Steve Mason, and we’ve got an exclusive first listen to the latter’s rework of ‘Gangster Chronicle’:
Says Rodney P, London Posse main man who’s set to release more of his own material later this year, of the release: “I love the remixes – it was interesting for me to hear how other people interpret the songs that we made over 20 years ago. I’m amazed and thankful to have been involved in an album that in hindsight was a huge landmark for hip hop in the UK. When we originally recorded the album we knew we were doing something a little different, but had no way of knowing the impact.”
