London Club Fabric Donates Exterior Sign to London Museum

The sign adorned the venue in 2019 to mark its 20th anniversary, and will form part of an exhibition celebrating "the meeting spots that bring London's communities together"

A sign from London club fabric has been donated to the London Museum.

When the museum reopens in 2026 at its new base of Smithfield Market, opposite fabric, the sign will be hung up as part of an exhibition called Hanging Out. The installation, the London Museum said, will celebrate “the meeting spots that bring London’s communities together”, and figures at the cultural space are currently looking for additional signs to add to the display.

fabric co-founder Cameron Leslie said: “As we gear up to celebrate our 25th anniversary later this year, it’s great to see the club recognised for the community we’ve built and the vital role we play in London – as both a cultural space and tireless champions of electronic music as an art form.”

Beatrice Behlen, senior curator at the London Museum, added: “fabric is truly at the heart of Smithfield’s creative pulse, so it’s a real privilege to be able to preserve a part of their history within our new museum. fabric epitomises the ethos of our Hanging Out installation.”

The sign itself, pictured above, was hung up outside the club for one year in 2019 and marked 20 years since it first opened.
