Liverpool Psych Fest Announces Daytime Programme

Britain's best psych fest has revealed a psychotropic cornucopia of tripped-out delights for its forthcoming edition

Liverpool International Festival Of Psychedelia have revealed a swathe of daytime events for this year’s edition.

Among the programming will be the event’s very own ‘tripped-out chat show’, named Musings In Drone, which will feature interviews with artists, label bosses and industry figures within the world of psychedelic music.

The show will be hosted by Liverpool music mainstay Bernie Connor, with Emmanuel ‘Jagari’ Chanda of headliners W.I.T.C.H. and members of Castle Face Records.

Liverpool cinema and art hub FACT have also been invited to collaborate with the festival on a unique short film programme, named Too Much Is Never Enough. Meanwhile the festival’s main stage will host an installation named Furnace 2.0, which promises ‘maximised bombardment’ in an ‘extreme video hexahedron environment’, to be incorporated into a number of main stage performances.

FACT’s Lesley Taker will curate a programme of artist-made shorts, inspired by themes of excess and overwhelming sensory experiences. Rachel Maclean, Sophia Al Maria, Laure Provost and Agnieska Polska are among the contributors.

Elsewhere there will be a host of virtual reality experiences within the ‘PZYK PRYZM’. A mixture of immersive experiences, large-scale AV installation, group transportation, bio-tech, pop-up performance and extreme conversation aboard a flying saucer-shaped, free-flowing think tank will all be on offer.

The /// PZYK COLONY /// will return for its second year, a 360 degree AV installation that will play host to the likes of The Bug vs Earth, The Comet Is Coming, Sex Swing, Gnod and more.

Also returning is the Bold Street Bedouin Boudoir, a space organised by Bold Street Coffee, as well as a record shop organised by local store Dig Vinyl.

A number of pre-festival warm up events are also planned, with a one off show from Pond on August 26, and the launch of a 27 Days To Destruction art exhibition to begin its run on the same day at Bold Street Coffee.

A special psych cinema season will be hosted by FACT in the weeks leading up to the main event, while a launch party featuring Ducktails, Ali Horn, The Goa Express and White Rabbit Light Show will take place at Constellations on 21 September.

The bill at this year’s event is topped by The Black Angels and W.I.T.C.H.. For all the info click here.
