As we reported last month, The xx have a new album coming out. Entitled Coexist, it’s the follow-up to their rather popular 2009 debut, and is released through Young Turks on 10th September. The one song that was already revealed, opener ‘Angels’, sounded a lot like The xx of old, without too much else going on – strange, perhaps, when breathless reports of their recent London gigs suggested Jamie XX had managed to have his wicked garagey way with a few tracks. Well, here’s a hint of what else the album might hold: ‘Chained’, which you can listen to below, adds some nice little piston clops and woodblocks to the mix, inna 2007 Burial kind of vein.
