The Promise of Arrival is a compilation of experimental, improvisational and electronic music which was released yesterday via Berlin-based Sound of Cobra Records. The profits of the compilation, which will be sold exclusively through Bandcamp, will be donated in their entirety to a selection of charities who are working to relieve Europe’s devastating migrant crisis.
The project was conceived by Sound of Cobra boss Riccardo Biondetti, who then recruited Italian avant-garde musician Claudio Roccetti to compile a tracklist that includes artists as diverse as Rabih Beaini (aka Lebanese electronic experimentalist, Morphosis), John Zorn-endorsed Italian instrumentalists, Zu (performing a cover of Throbbing Gristle’s ‘Walkabout’), and Lawrence English, who provides the compilation’s title track.
The list of charities to whom all profits will be donated includes the International Committee of the Red Cross, City of Sanctuary, Refugee Council, Migrant Offshore Aid Station and Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. You can purchase the compilation here.
