Tame Impala’s recent single ‘Elephant’ has been given the remix treatment by none other than 70s studio wizard Todd Rundgren, the producer behind albums such as Badfinger’s Straight Up, Meat Loaf’s Bat Out Of Hell and XTC’s Skylarking (and something of a pop genius himself). Have a listen below:
Rundgren gives the track a heavier and trippier feel, opening with repeated paranoid whispers of "here it comes", going on to transform it into a viscous synth-stomper.
The remix, along with another from Canyons, is out now. ‘Elephant’ is the first release off Tame Impala’s second album Lonerism, due out in the UK on October 8 via Modular Recordings.
