Los Angeles minimalist dub-pop duo Peaking Lights have announced ‘LO HI’ as the first single from their third album Lucifer. The single is set for release on 11th June, via Weird World, with album following on 18th June. Listen to ‘LO HI’ below.
‘LO HI’ is the first taste we’ve had of Lucifer, Aaron Coyes and Indra Dunis’ apparently more “nocturnal vision” of last year’s 936, with analogue and pop sounds now crafting their well-worn dub and house tendencies. In spite of its sinister LP title, the lead-off single is an upbeat, hazy affair, woven with dreamy vocals, a loping groove and even a bit of organ riffing. It’s even a bit “loved up”, featuring a few samples of Mikko, Coyes and Dunis’s baby son, a good warm up for an album built on “play and playfulness, unconditional love, rhythms and pulses, creation and vibration”.
They’re also playing a few dates in the UK ahead of the releases:
JUNE
2nd – London, Field Day
3rd – Dublin, Forbidden Fruit
5th – London, Brudenell
6th – London, XOYO
