Vince Clarke and Paul Hartnoll will release a new collaborative mini-album tomorrow built around a genre they have dubbed ‘Home House’. Defined as "music you can dance to in the privacy of your own living room", you can introduce yourself to it via the track above, available for you to listen to exclusively.
‘Do-A-Bong’ is somewhat different to what fans of both Erasure and Orbital may expect from the pair, built around punchy drums, elements of brass and a broken-up vocal sample. It’s one of eight tracks on 2Square, the new mini-album from them which sees digital-only release tomorrow (June 10).
“Vince approached me and asked if I wanted to work with him on some tracks he had demoed," Hartnoll recalls. "I set about adding and fiddling around and then we both spent a week finishing and mixing the record in my Brighton studio. Between us we’ve chalked up more than 50 years of making electronic dance music, we’re both Dads, and it was time to hold out the hand of collaboration and help each other up onto the dance floor to dance as only Dads can."
