LISTEN: Yann Tiersen – A Midsummer Evening

First taste of new album, ∞ (Infinity)

Yann Tiersen will be releasing his new album, the unusually titled ∞ (Infinity), on May 19 via Mute. Ahead of that, he’s given us a first taster with ‘A Midsummer Evening’, which, as the name suggests, is a sunny, baroque pop track featuring Tiersen’s characteristic subjection of acoustic instruments such as bells and strings to digital processing, indicative of his approach to the whole album, "a constant back and forth from acoustic to electronic to digital". Have a listen above.

The album was partially recorded in Iceland and includes collaborations with Aidan Moffat, amiina and Ólavur Jákupsson from Tiersen’s live band. He’ll also be embarking on a tour in support of the album, beginning at Teatre BARTS in Barcelona on May 8; head to his website for full details.
