The Moonlandingz are the semi-fictional group made up of Fat White Family’s Lias and Saul, The Eccentronic Research Council’s Adrian and Dean, Mairead O’Connor and producer Ross Orton, and they have just announced the release of a brand new EP, entitled Black Hanz, the title track of which is streaming above.
This new EP sees the band sign to Transgressive Records for its release with its lead track described as a "celebration of the Outsider, the socially inept". The single is a precursor to their debut album which the band is currently working on with a 2017 release date scheduled – the EP itself is available to buy now.
Frontman Johnny Rocket, the alter ego of Lias Saoudi, describes the track above as "our ode to the odious little England hegemony we have suddenly found ourselves sinking into." He further says "’Black Hanz’ represents the soundings off of one Johnny Rocket, dutiful masochist and world ranking narcissist. You can’t beat small mindedness into a man that revels in the fact that he is a shell of his future self, you cannot un-polish a turd!!"
The EP is available on limited edition 10" vinyl and can be pre-ordered here. The band play London’s Courtyard Theatre on December 7 and you can get tickets for that here. Read our interview with the group from last year here.
