Jazz warlocks Sons of Kemet have announced the first in a series of remix singles, which will each feature on a run of 12" vinyl limited to 300 copies. The first instalment, entitled "White on Black Vol. 1", features remixes of the album track "Going Home" from the band’s acclaimed 2013 debut Burn.
For this release Sons of Kemet enlisted the remixing skills of Bludd Relations, the collaborative project between producer Bullion and Brownswood-affiliated songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jesse Hackett, who transform "Going Home" into a slow-burning fidgety funker on Side A. Side B sees a different approach from Hello Skinny, the producer/composer alias of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner, who stretches the original’s world music-influenced elements into a mysterious 2-step extrapolation. "White on Black Vol. 1" will be available as a 12" from November 24, but for now you can listen to the track digitally via the soundtrack embed below.
