It’s been a few years’ wait for an album’s worth of new material from Ben Chasny, aka Six Organs Of Admittance, but that will be coming to an end on 21 February with the release of Companion Rises.

Today he has shared a new track from the record called ‘Haunted and Known’, a title that’s the perfect summation of the sound of Six Organs Of Admittance; there’s a familiarity to the folk music at the centre of his work, but an otherworldly presence all around it too.

‘Haunted and Known’ looks both backwards at Six Organs’ past and forges a new path. It starts with Chasny’s acoustic guitar played in hypnotic ribbons, underscoring his whisper-singing and beckoning you closer, before a colossal synth surge overwhelms the track and gives it a whole new topography.

Listen to ‘Haunted and Known’ above and pre-order Companion Rises here.
